Trade Fairs in Gothenburg

Not everyone comes to Gothenburg for a weekend holiday. Trade fairs, conferences and business events bring a large number of visitors to the city, and for many of them the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre – Svenska Mässan – is the place around which the entire trip revolves.

The biggest advantage is its location. The exhibition centre sits at Korsvägen, immediately beside Gothia Towers and across from Liseberg. Universeum, Scandinavium and several other event venues are also within a few minutes’ walk.

Staying close to Svenska Mässan

If your main reason for visiting is a fair or conference, staying in the event district is extremely convenient. Gothia Towers is directly connected with the exhibition and congress centre, while there are several other hotels within walking distance.

You do not necessarily need to stay beside the venue, though. Korsvägen is one of Gothenburg’s major public transport hubs, with tram and bus connections to the central station and many other parts of the city. That means a hotel in the centre can still be practical for a business visit.

Make more of your business trip

One thing I would recommend is leaving at least a little time for Gothenburg itself. From the exhibition centre you can walk towards Avenyn and the central districts, or take a tram to Haga and Majorna. If you only have an evening free, the compact city centre makes it quite easy to fit in dinner and a short walk without turning it into a major expedition.

The area around Korsvägen also has plenty of restaurants, and central Gothenburg is only a short ride away if you want more choice after the exhibition closes.

Major fairs and conferences

Svenska Mässan hosts everything from large public exhibitions to specialist trade shows, corporate meetings and international congresses. The programme changes throughout the year, so visitors travelling for a particular event should always check the organiser’s current information for dates, registration and opening hours.

For business travellers, Gothenburg is unusually manageable: the exhibition district is central, public transport is straightforward and it is perfectly possible to combine a full day at a trade fair with a little bit of the city afterwards.
